Slide Sledge®
Hatch Program
What is the Hatch Program?
Petersen Brands is the manufacturer and distributor of the well-known Slide Sledge® product line. As we continue meeting new people interested in our product we notice there are a number of very creative individuals with excellent ideas for accessories for this product. The HATCH program is designed to give people a venue to present their ideas. This information is being made available to people who may be interested in assisting Petersen Brands (“Petersen”) in creating new designs, and improvements to current designs for the Slide Sledge®. Specifically, Petersen is interested in finding new designs for attachments to their Slide Sledge® hammers, and believes the HATCH PROGRAM could play an integral part for Petersen’s plans.
Idea Submission forms are available at any trade show Petersen Brands attends, can be downloaded from links at the bottom of this page, or requested via mail at:

The forms must be signed and may be submitted by fax, mail or email.
After we receive it our team will evaluate the idea itself and how it fits with our current line of tools and accessories. Making a job safer, faster, and easier is what a Slide Sledge® does best. To that end, the ideas we receive should conform to this concept. If we consider the idea to have further merit we will typically make a prototype and solicit opinions from a selected group of current Slide Sledge® users. For this reason all submissions are non-confidential.
After the initial evaluation process, we will advise you regarding the outcome of our assessment within two weeks of the submission of your idea. At this point we will let you know if your idea will be suitable to move onto Stage 2 and be given further consideration. At the entrance into Stage 2 we will form an agreement with you. If through the development process we conclude that this idea is worthy of manufacture and marketing with our Slide Sledge® line of tips and accessories then we will enter into yet a more formal agreement with you which will detail the compensation payment, royalties, or other arrangements.
It is important to note that the typical idea that is submitted does not pay enough in terms of Awards or Royalties to change the course of a person's life. It is more like "getting away for a weekend" money rather than "buying a new car" money. Depending on exactly what is done with the idea submitted, different courses of action can be taken. For example, an idea submission that moves all the way to Stage 3 may be submitted for a patent (which is worth one thing) or the actual granting of a patent (which is something different). There are other factors that are also considered as a submitted idea moves into the further stages of development and the monetary rewards vary greatly depending on what our company feels the commercial success can be with your idea. Please see the additional documents provided for further clarification of the program and its rules.
