Precision Hammer®
Safety Information
- The Slide Sledge® Precision Hammer™ tips are special-purpose tools designed and intended only for use in straightening, shaping, shrinking, picking and finishing damaged sheet metal panels normally found on bodies and fenders of motor vehicles
- To avoid possible eye or other bodily injury, tips should not be used to strike objects other than sheet metal panels
- To use, choose the proper tip for your application and attach it to the impact end. Please note that certain tips contain a “D” shaped insertion hole. The “D” shape of the tip must be aligned with the “D” shape of the tool before insertion. Place the tip at the desired impact point and draw the sliding bar back. Slide the bar forward, forcing it toward the point of impact. Slide Sledge® Precision Hammer™ handle weights may be threaded onto the end of the bar to increase the impact force
- Do not use the Slide Sledge® Precision Hammer™ without first attaching a tip. Using the tool without a tip will void your warranty and damage the tool
- Do not use the Slide Sledge® Precision Hammer™ as a pry bar. Using the tool as a pry bar will void your warranty and damage the tool
- Do not use the Slide Sledge® Precision Hammer™ on live electrical circuits
- To avoid possible injury from flying objects, safety goggles or equivalent eye protection conforming to ANSI Z87.1 should be worn by the user and by all persons in the immediate area in which any striking tool is being used
- Tips should be inspected prior to each use and discontinued/replaced at the first sign of chipping, mushrooming, or cracking of any portion
- No area, section or portion of the Slide Sledge® Precision Hammer™ hammerhead should be ground, welded, treated by reheating, or otherwise altered from the original condition as furnished by Slide Sledge®
- To avoid possible eye or other bodily injury, tips should not be used to strike hard or hardened objects such as rocks, concrete, hatchets, hammers, axes, splitting wedges, mauls, and other striking tools
- Hammer blows should always be struck squarely with the striking face parallel with the surface being struck. Glancing blows, overstrikes and under strikes should be avoided
- Occasionally lubricate the Slide Sledge® Precision Hammer™ slide bar using common lubricating oil for longer life and smoother operation.
